DICOM images

This section features a collection of typical diagnostic DICOM imagery of breast cancer. The collection comprises both conventional (e.g., radiological) DICOM imagery and DICOM-compatible JPEG2000 virtual slides, which are accessed over JPIP. The radiological material consists of mammography, bone scan, and MRI images and the virtual slides are corresponding histological specimens from same patients (routine H&E stains and immunohistochemistry). The material was obtained from Tampere University Hospital.

The image collection resides in our public JVSdicom Server and JVSserv, which can be accessed using JVSdicom Workstation and JVSview.

Public JVSdicom Server details

Hostname: jvsmicroscope.uta.fi
AE Title: JVSDICOM
Port: 104

Note: in order to retrieve images, a receiving AE must be set up with the same AET as used for calling the server, listening to port 104 (which must be open in the firewall settings). In addition, some of the example images are rather large (several tens of megabytes), so retrieving them might take some time.
